How we calculate
We start from a base $/sq ft for the part type — simple flat parts ($1.50–$5) versus complex, small-batch or specialty finishes ($8–$45 equivalent) — and multiply by your coating area.
If parts need blasting or a pretreatment (phosphate, blast profile) before coating, we add 20–50%, since that is a separate labor step.
The result is a range because part geometry, rack density and finish spec drive real throughput, and most shops apply a per-job lot minimum on top.

What affects the price
Part geometry
Flat, simple parts coat fast and efficiently; complex shapes, internal surfaces and small parts need more handling and hanging, raising cost per square foot sharply.
Finish specification
Standard architectural or industrial powders sit at the low end; specialty finishes (candy, metallic, textured, high-temp, chemical-resistant) run far higher.
Surface prep
Rusty, oily or previously coated parts need blasting or pretreatment for adhesion — a separate step that adds 20–50%.
Batch size
A per-job lot minimum ($75–$200) means small runs cost more per part; large, repeatable runs are the most economical.
